Whisky Package

Whisky is an unmistakeable icon of Scotland. The amber liquid offers a distilled essence of the Highlands, and within each sip there’s the taste of the barley, the peat and the pristine water. 2023 marks a special year for Scottish whisky with it being the 200th anniversary of the 1823 Excise Act, an act of Parliament that kick-started the whisky boom in Scotland. To celebrate, Kinloch Lodge (which celebrated its own Golden Anniversary in 2022) is introducing a new whisky package for guests for 2023. Guests will learn more about the drink’s history and heritage, enjoy cocktails and tastings, as well as a tour of Torabhaig Distillery, Skye’s newest distillery built on historic Clan Donald land.

Itinerary:

Day One

Arrive in the evening and be welcomed into the Drawing Room with a special Torabhaig whisky cocktail from General Manager, Dan, before enjoying a delicious dinner using the finest local and home-grown produce.

Day Two

After a hearty Scottish breakfast, with perhaps a nip of whisky on your porridge, guests will have the day to explore the countryside surrounding Kinloch. Walk along the pristine shores of Loch Na Dal or over the Kinloch hill to the ruined village of Leitir Fura. Guests are sent off with a packed picnic basket from the Kinloch kitchen, including all the ingredients to shake up a Whisky Mac. Settle onto a tartan picnic blanket and toast the landscapes.

That evening, guests join Dan in the hotel bar for a tutored whisky tasting. Dan will explain the differences between Scotland’s main whisky regions, what to look for in a perfect dram and some recommendations of smaller, lesser –known distilleries.

Dinner.

Day Three

In the morning head to the new Torabhaig Distillery further down the Sleat Peninsula, Skye’s newest distillery. Enjoy a guided tour of the building, learning about its history before a tutored tasting of their first releases.
